Here are Top 5 Records broken in T20WC 2022
5. T20 World Cups with the most centuries
The most centuries in the history of the T20 World Cup are held by Chris Gayle, a famous T20 player. In 31 innings, he has scored two hundred runs. The English openers Jos Buttler and Alex Hales have each scored a hundred runs and will play in the upcoming World Cup in Australia.
If one of them hits two more tones, he will pass Gayle as the player with the most centuries. Since cricket is a game full of surprises, we shouldn’t give up on this goal.
4. Most four-for in T20 World Cups
There are only two bowlers with three four-wicket hauls in T20 World Cups: former Pakistani spinner Saeed Ajmal and veteran Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan. In this World Cup, Shakib has a great chance to beat Ajmal since he is no longer playing.
Shakib’s teammate Mustafizur Rahman also has two four-fors. There will be a tough race between these two to see who can get the most four-wicket hauls.
3. Total dismissals by a South African keeper in T20 World Cups
In the history of the T20 World Cup, Mark Boucher is the most successful South African keeper. In 16 games, he has been dismissed 16 times. Quinton de Kock, who has already taken 15 wickets in 13 games behind the stumps, is just behind him.
So, if De Kock makes two more successful throws, which we think he will, he will become the most successful South African keeper in the history of the mega event t20wc.
2. Most catches in T20 World Cups
As of now, AB de Villiers, a famous South African 360 player who played in consecutive 30 World Cups, has the most catches, which is 23. In second place right now is Martin Guptill with 19 catches. Now, if Guptill catches five more balls, he will pass De Villiers and become the number one in the tournament.
1. Total runs in T20 World Cups
Mahela Jayawardene, former Sri Lankan batter, is the most successful in the history of the T20WC. The right-handed batter has scored 1016 runs in 31 games, with an average of 39.07 and a strike rate of 134.74, But Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and David Warner, three of the best players of this generation, are close to break his record.
Kohli (845 runs) and Rohit (847 runs) need 171 and 169 runs, respectively, to beat Jayawardene. Warner, on the other hand, needs 254 runs to beat Jayawardene.
